Many of the results of quantum mechanics are not easily visualized in terms of classical mechanics. To be analogous to the two weeks of eating or rotting for the cat, we can imagine using time-sensitive ink that will change color during the two weeks. Every quantum possibility branches off into a new parallel universe. The reason is simple––you can't determine the exact path of the electron in various orbital level.
