What follows is an annotated list of some of the better examples. Several slave narratives document escapes by slaves from other Northern Kentucky communities who passed through the Covington or Newport stations on their way to Canada. Madison Railroad has been owned and operated by the City of Madison since 1981. The first train tracks built across Kansas from the north to south was the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe. In 1988, the Rio Grande’s parent corporation, Rio Grande Industries, purchased Southern Pacific Transportation Company, and as the result of a merger, the larger Southern Pacific Railroad name was chosen for identity.

The Georgetown Loop runs two trains a day from May through September only. 1938: The last of the trains run from Denver to Silver Plume. Although I have much more to do to this site, I hope that those of you that have visited before enjoy the new look of the site. In December of 2010 the City of Laconia with some FEMA funds removed the rest of the boardwalk south of the present day station for the MV MT Washington and replaced it with a boardwalk with a more sturdy foundation.

A disastrous fire destroys the Indian pueblo and all the principal buildings of Tiny Town. After the war ended both passenger and freight traffic declined steadily through the 1950s and no matter how hard railroads tried to lure passengers back onto trains it was to no avail. Another Whiting item dated Oct. 8, 1886, noted that about two tons of butter were shipped from that station and several tons more were stored nearby. In Laupahoehoe, a concrete platform remains where Hula dancers once performed for tourists.

During the crash a covered hopper missed a high tension power line tower by only a few feet. The line south of Rochester is built to 6’ gauge to interchange with the Erie. The steel highway was history now with the following words describing the railroad. "It was a hastily constructed highway which cost three times as much as it was worth and yet was worth many times more than three times as much as it cost."
